Attic Fire Threatens Church
Smoke and soot with 100 years of history covered the corner of University and State streets in downtown Champaign. Fortunately the Champaign and Urbana firemen were able to contain the Emmanuel Episcopal Church's fire to just the attic. Sometimes the direct fire damage can only be half of the problem in a fire loss. The water used to put out the fire can pose just as many issues as the smoke and soot itself, let alone the charred structure from the flames. With water seeping all the way to the first floor of the three-story church, everything in between was completely saturated. These pictures show the progress from the first day of the fire, to the third day after the construction started. Making quick and clean work of any job is important because getting those impacted by a loss back into their normal routine of life is the number one goal for us.
